Rebels Welcome Four Newcomers to Fall Roster
May 8, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rifle just got deeper at the line with the addition of Emily Cock, Sophia Cuozzo, Kamilla Kisch and Megan Taylor, who are set to arrive for the fall semester, head coach Marsha Beasley announced Monday.

This recruiting class is unique in that each newcomer is from out-of-state and has a family member within the rifle community, specifically within collegiate athletics.

Emily Cock joins the Rebels from across the country in Silverton, Oregon, where she currently attends Silverton High School. Cock is a nine-time Oregon State Champion, seven-time National Junior Olympic competitor and earned Eley High School All-America honors this past year.

The successful shooter Cock is to date is powered behind being the youngest of an athletic family. Her father, JR Cock, was a pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels farm system (1991), her older brother, Austin Cock, is a senior on the JSU rifle team and older sister, Madison Cock, is a member of the University of Utah swimming and diving team.

Off the range, Cock has been a member of her high school honor roll the past three years and looks to continue her academic success at Ole Miss campus as a radiology major.

"I'm excited about the recruits we signed this year. Emily Cock has great experience and she has been a National Team member and represented the United States in international competition," Beasley said. "At the 2017 National Junior Olympics she had the highest smallbore score of this year's signees. I believe she will contribute immediately in smallbore."

A native of Orange, Connecticut, Cuozzo attendsAmity Regional High School. She was introduced to the sport in seventh grade as a member of the Stratford Police Athletics League and has also participated in the 2015 NRA National Smallbore Championship Iron Sight Team and the 2015 Randle Team.

Cuozzo’s interests expand far beyond just shooting as she is a member of the varsity dance team, a leader in Students Against Destructive Decision (SADD) and part of the National Art Society (NAHS). Like Cock, Cuozzo is no stranger to the rifle community as her brother is a senior on the Ohio State rifle team.

The third member of the incoming class, Kisch hails from Maple Grove, Minnesota and Osseo Senior High School. She is a five-year member of the Minnesota Centershots Junior Precision Rifle Team and a 2016 State Champion in the Minnesota State Airgun Open with more than five titles to her claim.

In addition to finishing first at the 2016 Civilian Marksmanship Program, Kisch earned first at the Junior Olympics Three-Position Air Rifle Junior Nationals as well as at the NRA Sectional Championship Junior Air Rifle Precision Standing.

The sport runs in Kisch’s family as well, as her father, Kurt Kisch, was a member of the East Tennessee State Rifle Team (1983-1986).

As a three-year honor roll member, three-year academic letterwinner and two-year member of the National Honor Society, Kisch plans to major in biology at Ole Miss.

Taylor currently attends Coleman High School, in Coleman, Texas, and with her family’s operation of two bird hunting companies, Taylor's shooting skills became second nature. She’s a four-time Junior Olympic Qualifier and a member of the 2016 first place CMP Texas Team and CMP Western Region Team.

As the president of the National Honor Society, Taylor has been a member of the Honor Roll four years and has earned several awards from her high school. Kisch plans to major in biomedical engineering at Ole Miss.

Like the other three incoming Rebels, Taylor has a sibling within the rifle community, as her brother, Nathan Taylor, competes for the University of Alaska Fairbanks rifle team.

“We're very happy to have Sophia, Kamilla, and Megan joining the team as well,” Beasley said. “They each bring experience that will be helpful to us and they excel in the classroom. “I wouldn't be surprised if one of these three earned a starting spot this year.”
