OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Kim Coffey posted a career-best score in smallbore, but the No. 9 ranked Ole Miss women's rifle team dropped a top 10 battle to No. 6 Nebraska 4641-4621 here Saturday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center, in their first GARC match of the year.

Coffey's career-best 580 in smallbore led all competitors, and left the Rebels trailing the Cornhuskers by just four with a total of 2296 to Nebraska's 2300.

Unfortunately, Nebraska's moved ahead in air rifle, as Janine Dutton led all participants with a 592 to pace the Cornhuskers.

Rebel juniors Melissa Quartarone and Alivia Yeager led the Rebels, each shooting a 584, while MaryAnn Banks posted a 582.

"It was a tough match," head coach Valerie Boothe said.   "We came out with some great smallbore contributions with Kim's career-high of 580.  But we struggled in air and that's when we opened the door for Nebraska to pull ahead.  We just have a short time to work on it before heading to Murray State."

The Rebels are back in action next weekend in Murray, Ky., as they face Jacksonville State and Murray State.
