No. 10 Rebels Head to Lexington 3-1

OXFORD, Miss. – After a week off, the No. 10 Ole Miss rifle team travels to Lexington, Kentucky Saturday to compete against No. 2 Kentucky at 7:15 a.m. CT at the Kentucky rifle Range.

Rebels are now 3-1

The Rebels took their first loss of the season two weeks ago at No. 1 West Virginia. The Rebels fell to the Mountaineers 4739-4647 and are now 3-1 in the Great American Rifle Conference.

The Rebels garnered three personal bests including senior Jessica Haig with a personal best 595 and freshman Emily Cock with a career best 592 in air rifle. Freshman Abby Buesseler led the team in smallbore with a personal best of 576.

View of the Wildcats…

The No. 2 ranked Wildcats fired their second-highest aggregate score of the season defeating Akron 4712-4638 last weekend. The team was led by freshman Henrik Larsen, who led all shooters with an 1189 aggregate, comprised of a 596 in air rifle and a 593 in smallbore.

Last meeting…

In their last meeting against the Wildcats in 2016 in Oxford, Kentucky won 4664-4624. Rebel alum Alison Weisz posted a 595 in air rifle to lead Ole Miss and senior Jessica Haig led in smallbore with a 574.

“We are very much looking forward to competing with Kentucky,” said head coach Marsha Beasley.  They are an excellent team and have one of the best shooters in the NCAA Henrik Larsen. This match is a great opportunity for us to use what we've been working on in practice. We're trying some new things and I'm really looking forward to the team working on those techniques in a match setting.”
