OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss junior forward Regan Scanlon set a personal best with four goals in leading the Lady Rebels (1-0) to an 8-0 win over the University of Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks (0-1) Saturday.

The four goals ranks second all-time in the Ole Miss records and marks the second time Scanlon has scored three or more goals in a game. Scanlon scored three goals against the Skyhawks in 1998.

Playing in Martin, Tenn., Scanlon helped get the Lady Rebels on the board by picking up an assist on Jessica O'Neill's goal in the first five minutes of the game. Scanlon then scored three consecutive goals during an 11-minute stretch to give Ole Miss a 4-0 lead.

Junior Sarah Wong gave the Lady Rebels' a 5-0 advantage with a goal late in the first half.

Ole Miss went ahead 6-0 on Scanlon's fourth goal of the day at the 70-minute mark in the second half.

Bridget Brooks and Megan Bowman, both freshmen, picked up their first career collegiate goals in the victory. Brooks gave the Lady Rebels a 7-0 lead at the 78:45 mark off an assist from Amaris Weeks, and Bowman closed out the scoring with a goal at the 83:57 mark.

The Lady Rebels' defense held the Skyhawks without a shot in the first half and only six for the game. Senior goalkeeper Birna Bjornsdottir recorded four saves for Ole Miss in the second half and shared the shutout win with sophomore Melinda Smith who started the first half.

The Lady Rebels travel to Hattiesburg to take on Southern Mississippi on Wednesday, Sept. 1. Ole Miss opens its 1999 home schedule Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. against Southwest Missouri State.
