Soccer Spring Season Starts Saturday An exciting slate of spring exhibition matches, highlighted by home tilts with UAB, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss Alumni, Memphis and Vanderbilt, await Rebel fans eager for the return of Ole Miss Soccer to live action.
OXFORD, Miss. An exciting slate of spring exhibition matches, highlighted by home tilts with UAB, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss Alumni, Memphis and Vanderbilt, await Rebel fans eager for the return of Ole Miss Soccer to live action.
Ole Miss hosts UAB and national powerhouse OklahomaState on Saturday in the first matches of the spring at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The Rebels take on the Blazers at 10 a.m. and the Cowgirls at 6:30 p.m. following the men’s basketball and baseball games on campus.
Head coach Steve Holeman’s Rebels began practice on Feb. 8 and have been working hard to train and prepare for 2008 after a tough 7-8-5 campaign this past fall.
Another highlight to the spring schedule again this year is a March 22 match in Ridgeland, Miss., against MississippiState at 1 p.m. that will precede a 3:30 p.m. MLS exhibition match between the Chicago Fire and Colorado Rapids.
The following Saturday the Rebels will travel to Houston, Texas, where they will square off with the Houston Cougars at 11 a.m. and the Rice Owls at 3:30 p.m.
The Rebels will return home on April 5 for the Ole Miss Soccer Alumni Weekend and will take on the former Rebels at 11 a.m.
Closing out the home portion on April 12, the Rebels will host Vanderbilt and Memphis. They will square off against the Commodores at 10 a.m. and the Tigers at 5 p.m.
Ole Miss will conclude its spring schedule when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 19, as the Rebels take on the Crimson Tide at 10 a.m. and Columbus State at 2 p.m.
All home spring matches are free to the public.
