Fresh Faces: Soccer's Maddy Houghton
Aug. 8, 2018

In the fourth of a six-part series introducing the Ole Miss soccer newcomers for the 2018 season, Wednesday’s second profile features freshman midfielder/defender Maddy Houghton.

What made you choose Ole Miss?

I have wanted to be an Ole Miss soccer player since I was a little girl. I have been attending the soccer camps since before I could remember and being offered the chance to play here fulfilled my dreams. Also, giving me the opportunity to be reunited on the field with my sister was something I could not pass up. I have always wanted to play with her rather than against her. Over the years, I have witnessed the great things performed by the coaches as well as the players, and I knew this was the program I wanted to represent.

What do you like most about Ole Miss and Oxford?

I like how it is a small college town that has a huge support system from the fans. The campus is beautiful with a scenery that never gets old. The atmosphere in Oxford is very welcoming and gives you the opportunity to feel like you are at home.

What are you most looking forward to during your first season at Ole Miss?

I am looking forward to an opportunity to grow as a player. The chance to make a huge impact for my team. The opportunity to grow closer with my teammates and have a great season in the end.

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

My ritual is to say a quick prayer over myself, my team, and the opposing team.

Is there anyone you try to model your game after? If so, why?

I have never modeled my style of play after any individual. I feel like my style has been put together completely by myself.
