OXFORD, Miss. - Lady Rebel sophomore Jennifer Soileau scored four goals and sophomore Sarah Wong added three goals to lead the Ole Miss women's soccer squad to a 10-1 exhibition victory over the Texas Image Club team on Saturday night. The teams played a three-period exhibition game.

The contest was Ole Miss' first exhibition game of the 1998 season. The Lady Rebels will play their second exhibition contest on Saturday, Aug. 29 versus the Atlanta Tophatters at 7:00 p.m. at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

"This was a great opportunity to evaluate our progress made in preseason," said Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman. "We were able to get in behind their defense and put the ball in the back of the net. We used tonight's game to identify the areas that we need to continue to work on before our season opens in a little over a week."

Soileau netted her first two goals in a four-minute span in the first period to increase the Lady Rebel lead to 3-0. The Baton Rouge, La., native then scored a goal in each of the next two periods to round out her four-goal performance. Wong scored the first goal three minutes into the game, and later in the third period, she netted two additional goals.

Senior Leah Rutledge and freshman Ashley Martin each recorded two assists in the victory, while sophomore Regan Scanlon added one goal and one assist. Sophomore Mary Ann Moss (Jackson, Miss.) also netted a goal in the win.

The Lady Rebels outshot Texas Image, 31-2 and held a 6-0 corner kick advantage.

Ole Miss will open regular season play on Sept. 1 when it travels to Hattiesburg to meet Southern Miss. The Lady Rebels begin play at home on Sept. 5 versus Tennessee-Chattanooga.
