OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team travels to Baton Rouge, La., this weekend to take on Oklahoma State and Texas Tech as part of a tournament at the LSU Soccer Complex. The Rebels face OSU Friday at 4 p.m. (CST) and the Red Raiders Sunday at 11 a.m.
Ole Miss will be looking for its first win of the season after going 0-2 in a season-opening California road trip last weekend. The Rebels fell 2-1 to San Diego State Friday and 1-0 to Pepperdine Sunday in double overtime.
Sophomore-transfer Kristin Chapman scored a goal against the Aztecs in her Ole Miss debut, but it was not enough as the Rebels dropped their first season-opener since 1997. Sunday saw Ole Miss tally a school-record 22 saves, 14 by freshmen GK Brittany Gillespie, but surrender a goal on a penalty kick in the 112th minute.
Oklahoma State enters Friday's match with a 1-1 mark. The Cowgirls held on for a 1-0 victory over Oral Roberts in their opener on Friday, but were crushed by Tulsa, 5-0, on Sunday. Forward Joanne Edwards scored OSU's lone goal and leads the team in shots-taken with six.
