BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss senior midfielder Chrissy Strini can add another award to her distinguished Rebel career as she has been named SEC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The Cordova, Tenn., native scored the game-winning goal in both Rebel victories over the weekend, helping Ole Miss improve to 3-1-2 on the season.
On Friday, she netted a free kick in the 52nd minute to give Ole Miss a 2-0 lead in its eventual 2-1 victory over Rice. She also provided the assist for Amy Bayles on the Rebels' first goal against the Owls. On Sunday, Strini led all players with five shots and two shots on-goal, and connected for the only score of the match with a strike from eight yards out in the 66th minute to give Ole Miss a 1-0 win over UCF.
The two-time All-SEC first team member and 2005 All-American leads Ole Miss with three goals and seven points for the season.
She was also named to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week on Monday.
Surprisingly, these are the first weekly honors in Strini’s career. She is the first Rebel selection as SEC Player of the Week this season and the 14th in the history of the program.
Ole Miss looks to continue its winning ways with two more Conference USA opponents this weekend with matches at Memphis on Friday and at home vs. Colorado College on Sunday.
