OXFORD, Miss. – Junior forward Mandy McCalla was honored by the Southeastern Conference recently when she was named to the league’s Community Service Team when the conference released its annual team honoring student athletes committed to community service.
McCalla was Ole Miss’ representative on the team for 2012 after participating in community outreach programs in the Oxford and Ole Miss area as she has been a visible representative for the Southeastern Conference, women’s soccer and the Rebels.
In her time at Ole Miss, the junior has participated in numerous activities, including the Reading With The Rebels program to encourage reading in area schools and the SEC “Together We Can” Food Drive to help stock local food pantries to help those in need locally.
McCalla has also participated in youth soccer clinics to promote healthy activity choices and the sport of soccer to local young people. She has also been part of the Rebels “Pet A Puppy” campaign with the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society and the program’s annual “Kick Cancer” campaign with Baptist Memorial Hospital to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer awareness and treatment.
