CeCe Kizer Invited to U.S. U-23 National Team Training Camp
Nov. 28, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss forward CeCe Kizer has received an invitation to participate in the upcoming U.S. Soccer Under-23 Women’s National Team training camp in Orlando Florida.

The training camp is set to take place November 28 through December 4 and will feature an intrasquad scrimmage December 1 as well as a scrimmage against Orlando City Boys DA December 3. Both scrimmages will be played at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.

“Getting called into the camp is such an honor,” Kizer said. “It has always been a dream of mine to compete at the national team level so I’m really excited for the opportunity.”

It will not be the first time the Overland Park, Kansas native will exchange her red, white and blue Ole Miss kit for that of the U.S. National Team. In 2016, Kizer was invited to the U.S. Soccer Under-20 Women’s National Team training camp following a stellar freshman season in Oxford.

“We are really happy for CeCe to get called back into the national team program with the U-23 team,” said head coach Matt Mott. “She had a great season and continues to get better and better. I’m so glad she is being recognized for her ability and has the opportunity to train with some of the other top players in the country.”

The announcement comes after Kizer put together one of the finest seasons in Ole Miss soccer history. The junior led the SEC in both goals (16) and points (39), ranking second and third in the nation in those categories, respectively. Both of those totals are tied for the fourth most in a single season in program history.

Kizer’s prolific season did not go unrecognized as the forward garnered First Team All-SEC honors, as voted by the league’s head coaches. Additionally, Kizer was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 selection and has advanced to consideration for Academic All-American status.
