OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team has added nine new faces to the program as a part of the signing class that will be on campus to compete for the Rebels beginning with the fall 2013 season, fourth-year head coach Matthew Mott announced on Monday.

The nine players are expected to arrive on campus over the summer to begin preparation for an exciting 2013 campaign on the heels of a successful 2012 season in which Ole Miss advanced to the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament and posted 13 wins, including eight shutout victories.

Mott on his 2013 class:
“We are thrilled to announce our 2013 recruiting class. It's a strong group of players that includes one goalkeeper, two defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards. We've been able to add significant depth to our roster in almost every position with the addition of this very talented class. I have to give a ton of credit to my assistant coaches, Becky Fletcher and Rob Thompson, for their tireless work scouring the country to find individuals that are the perfect fit both academically and athletically for Ole Miss. In all, seven states are represented in this class: Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. I have no doubt that all nine of these student-athletes will represent Ole Miss and the soccer program with great class and integrity on and off the field."

Quote about Melissa Capocaccia from her high school coach - Bobby Ireland, St. Agnes Academy

"Melissa Capocaccia was a four year starter for the St. Agnes Academy varsity team. She quickly established herself as a no nonsense defender with incredible skill and intelligence. In her four years, the varsity squad only lost 5 games on the way to a state title, two state runners-up titles and four regional championships. Melissa's ability to read the game is second to none and her maturity, composure, confidence and speed allow her to dominate most every opponent she faces. A vocal leader that demands the best from herself and her teammates she's just as comfortable taking a free kick as defending one. Melissa is the youngest of three sisters that all will be playing their soccer in the SEC. She is the real deal and her academic excellence also demonstrates her professionalism on and off the field. She will be a huge asset to any program."

Quote about Gretchen Harknett from her club coach - Mike Knowles, Lobos Rush Soccer

"I worked with Gretchen for two years and it has been a real pleasure coaching her. Her effort and work rate in games and practice are second to none. When you add her ability into the equation too, she really is an excellent all-around player. She has an excellent first touch and this compliments her passing. Her awareness helps her recognize how much time and space she has, thus allowing her to select the right pass. She is strong with either foot and has a natural attacking flair. The thing that really gets missed by many is her defensive capability. Time after time she breaks up attacks and quickly sets up attacking plays."

Although she has been continually successful in the net, she never becomes complacent and is always seeking to get better. She is a great keeper and a great kid as well. A lot of players reach their peak in high school and plateau a little in college, but I know Madi will continue to push and get better every year. It's been fun to watch her improve over the last few years and I can't wait to see how successful she becomes at the college level."
