Errors Prove Costly in 7-1 Loss to Arkansas
April 30, 2018

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - A pair of errors in the field proved to be costly for Ole Miss as Arkansas turned them into six unearned runs in a 7-1 win over the Rebels Monday night at Bogle Park.

Kaitlin Lee was saddled with the loss in the circle, surrendering six runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work. However, all six of those runs went down as unearned. Brittany Finney relieved Lee for the final 1.1 frames, giving up a run on a pair of hits.

An error at second to start the inning came back to bite the Rebels (28-21, 5-16 SEC) in the second inning. Arkansas (37-11, 12-9 SEC) would score a pair of unearned runs on a slow grounder up the middle as Paige McKinney's throw down to first for the third out was deemed to be just late.

The Rebels answered back with a late rally in the third. After the first two batters were set aside, Amanda Roth and Elantra Cox knocked back-to-back infield singles before Kaylee Horton came through with a single up the middle, scoring Roth to cut the Razorback lead in half.

After Ole Miss left the tying run on second in back-to-back frames in the fourth and fifth, Arkansas took advantage of another Rebel error to plate four unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth, opening up a 6-1 lead.

The Razorbacks tacked on another run in the sixth and closed things out in the seventh, retiring the Rebels in order.

Ole Miss will return to Oxford this coming weekend to close out the regular season. The Rebels will play host to Georgia in a three-game series May 4-6 at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, with Friday's game being featured in whip-around coverage across the league as part of Bases Loaded coverage on the SEC Network.
