OXFORD, Miss. – Miranda Strother, a 5-9 outfielder from Suwanee, Ga., has signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Ole Miss, head coach Windy Thees announced Monday. Strother joins Emily Gaitan and Emily Boyd as members of the Rebels’ 2013 class.
Strother, who attended North Gwinnett High School, was a First Team All-County selection in 2010 and 2011. She competed in volleyball and track, and finished first in a freshman meet for pole vaulting. Strother played club softball for the Atlanta Vipers Giles, where they finished second out of 172 teams at the 2011 ASA Nationals, seventh at the 2010 ASA Nationals, and ninth at the 2011 Colorado Independence.
“Miranda is a very talented outfielder who brings a lot to the table on both sides of the plate,” Thees said. “As an outfielder, she has a great arm and gets a great read on the ball. At the plate, Miranda is a strong left-handed power presence in the box, who also has enough speed to play the short game effectively. She will bring more depth to our outfield as we are losing Brittany Broome to graduation.”
The daughter of Will and Sonja Strother, Miranda has been a Beta Club member all four years of high school, is in the National Honors Society, Key Club, student council and Relay for Life. She has also been a scholar athlete for three years.
