Ole Miss Softball Announces Challenging 2018 Schedule
Rebel Slate Features 12 2017 NCAA Tournament Qualifiers

OXFORD, Miss. – Coming off of the most successful season in program history, Ole Miss softball will challenge itself in 2018 with a 53-game schedule featuring 12 opponents that earned a bid to the 2017 NCAA Tournament, including four that advanced to the Women’s College World Series.

Head Coach Mike Smith enters his fourth year at the helm of the Ole Miss program, fresh off a season that saw Ole Miss capture its first SEC Tournament Championship and advance to the super regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever.

The Rebels will host 26 games at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, while playing on the road 18 times and competing in nine neutral site contests. Ole Miss will take part in four tournaments, two away from home and two in Oxford.

Ole Miss kicks off the 2018 campaign by heading to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the Sand Dollar Classic Feb. 9-11. The Rebels will face off against Penn State and Florida A&M on Friday’s opening day before taking on Lipscomb and Virginia Tech on Saturday. Ole Miss closes out the tournament Sunday morning, battling Lamar.

The Rebels will then take a trip south of the border, competing in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge Feb. 15-17 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Ole Miss opens up the event against Texas on Thursday, with an afternoon matchup with Houston set for Friday. The Rebels finish things off Saturday with games against Rutgers and Oregon.

After starting the first two weeks of the season on the road, Ole Miss returns to Oxford to host a pair of tournaments, starting with the Red & Blue Classic Feb. 23-25. The Rebels kick things off with a pair of games Friday against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and North Dakota State. Following a Saturday matchup with Stephen F. Austin, Ole Miss rounds out the Red & Blue Classic Sunday against UMKC and SIUE.

Ole Miss will stay home the following weekend, hosting the Ole Miss Classic March 2-4 at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. The Rebels will play UT Martin on Friday before taking on Saint Louis and Chattanooga Saturday afternoon, closing out with Southern Miss on Sunday.

With the tournament slate concluded, Ole Miss will host Boston College for a non-conference matchup March 6 before opening up the SEC portion of its schedule with a three-game series at Texas A&M March 9-11 in College Station.

The Rebels will head to Hammond, La. For a midweek contest with Southeastern Louisiana on March 14  prior to a series with South Carolina March 16-18 in Oxford. The following week, Ole Miss takes on nearby foe Memphis on the 20th on the road before travelling to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama March 23-25.

Ole Miss stays on the road for another non-conference matchup with Central Arkansas March 28 in Conway, Ark. With the five-game road trip concluded, the Rebels welcome Auburn to the Ole Miss Softball Complex March 30-April 1.

The following Wednesday, Ole Miss makes way south to Hattiesburg April 4 for a rematch with Southern Miss before returning to the Bayou for a series against LSU April 6-8 in Baton Rouge. The Rebels open a five-game homestand on the 11th against Belmont, hosting in-state rival Mississippi State April 14-16 before battling Louisiana-Monroe on the 18th.

Receiving a brief respite from the grueling slate of SEC weekend series, the Rebels travel to El Paso, Texas April 20-21 for a pair of games against UTEP. The following Wednesday, the Rebels and Skyhawks of UT Martin will face off in a rematch April 25 in Oxford.

The Rebels wrap up the road portion of their schedule April 28-30 with a series at Arkansas in Fayetteville before hosting Alabama State May 2 in the non-conference finale for Ole Miss. The regular season comes to a close May 4-6 with a series against Georgia in Oxford to finish off SEC play.

Ole Miss will look to defend its SEC Tournament crown May 9-12, with Missouri set to host the four-day event in Columbia.
