STARS IN THE CLASSROOM

The Rebels have a long-standing tradition of success on the courts. Off the courts, they have been outstanding. In 2015, the Rebels received the ITA All-Academic Team Award for an unprecedented 19th consecutive year.

The Rebels were one of 10 teams in Division I and four from the SEC to finish ranked inside the top 25 and receive the ITA All-Academic Team Award.

This award honors teams with outstanding academic achievements, requiring a minimum overall 3.2 grade point average to be considered.  The Rebels posted an impressive 3.50 cumulative team GPA for the year.

“We are very proud of the team for their academic accomplishments,” head coach Mark Beyers said. “This is a testament to the hard work the players put into their school work. A special thanks to Derek Cowherd, Justin Light and the rest of the FedEx staff for everything they do to give the student athletes everything they need in order to be successful.”

The 1997 team was one of only three teams in the nation to be named an ITA All-Academic Team and finish ranked in the top 10. The 1998 team had the highest grade point average in the nation with a 3.69. In 1999, the Lady Rebels were the only top-10 team in the nation to earn this distinction. In 2012, the Rebels were one of four teams to earn this distinction and end the year in the top 20.
