Senior Arianne Hartono and sophomore Alexa Bortles of the Ole Miss women’s tennis team will play for the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championship in doubles Sunday, after posting a straight-set win in the semifinals Saturday.

Hartono and Bortles (8-3) will face Stanford’s Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon for the title Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the final with live streaming

The Rebel duo will be going for their first national championship and the first in program history since four-time All-American Paloma Collantes won back-to-back All-American Championships in 1992 and 1993.

Path to the championship match…
Hartono and Bortles defeated Georgia Tech’s Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones in straight sets Saturday in the semifinals. The Georgia Tech duo got an early break to go up 2-1 in the first set, but Hartono and Bortles broke back and then again for a 4-2 lead. They held for 6-2 to take the early momentum.

In the second set, Hartono and Bortles led 2-0, before Hourigan and Jones won four of the next five games to go up 4-3. After breaking back for 4-4, Hartono and Bortles were broken again, allowing the GT pair to serve for the set. Hartono and Bortles saved set points for 5-5 but were broken again as the Tech duo tried to serve out the set once more at 6-5. Hartono and Bortles would not be denied breaking back to force a tiebreaker. Trailing 5-4 in the breaker, Hartono and Bortles won the final three points to win it 7-6(5) and clinch the victory.
