Rebels in the Preseason Rankings…
In the first ranking of 2018, Ole Miss landed at No. 23, one of nine SEC teams in the top 25. Three additional league teams are receiving votes.

Tough Schedule on Deck…
In addition to the nine SEC teams already in the top 25, the Rebels will also face No. 25 TCU in the first round of the ITA Kick Off and either No. 16 Oklahoma State or No. 24 Arizona State in the second match. On Feb. 17, the Rebels will travel to No. 20 Baylor.

Experienced Team Returns…
The Rebels return five of the top six from the 2017 season, including seniors Arianne Hartono and Natalie Suk. Hartono is ranked No. 50 in singles and No. 13 in doubles with sophomore Alexa Bortles. The All-American is coming off a successful fall in which she won the ITA Southern Regional singles title and teamed with Bortles to finish runner-up in doubles at the ITA Fall National Championships. Suk finished the fall ranked No. 81 and teamed with freshman Sabina Machalova to win the ITA Southern Regional doubles title. Machalova is ranked No. 62 after a solid fall and teams with Suk for a No. 22 ranking in doubles. Also returning is junior Tea Jandric, who ended the fall at No. 95 in singles and No. 58 in doubles with sophomore Anna Vrbenska.

New Year, New Facility…
The Rebels ushered in the 2018 season with their first practice in their new indoor tennis facility. The new indoor tennis center features six courts with seating up top and also includes individual scoreboards on each court with the main scoreboard at the south end of the facility. The men’s team will host the first match in the facility Jan. 20, while the women will host their first match in there on Feb. 3.

Courtside with head coach Mark Beyers
“We are excited to get the season started here in Florida against some great teams at the FGCU Spring Invitational. It will give our players an opportunity to get some solid early season competition and prepare us for the dual match season.”

Up Next…
Following this weekend, the Rebels will return home to begin preparing for their first dual match Jan. 20 at Purdue.
