Rebels Begin NCAA Individual Championships Wednesday

OXFORD, Miss.
-- Ole Miss will be represented in the NCAA Individual Championships with junior Arianne Hartono competing in the singles and in doubles with freshman Alexa Bortles. Action begins Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

Hartono, ranked No. 27 nationally, will be making her second straight singles appearance and will face No. 34 ranked Maegan Manasse of California Wednesday at 7 a.m. CT. Hartono and Bortles will play No. 17 ranked Julia O'Loughlin and Maureen Slattery of Denver Thursday. Times for the doubles will be announced Wednesday.

At the net with Hartono...
• Hartono earned her second straight NCAA singles bid with a ranking of No. 27 and an overall record of 19-14
• In 2016, Hartono advanced to the round of 16 in singles with wins against Martina Frantova of NC State and Saska Gavrilovska of Texas A&M on her way to becoming the program's 12th All-American
• For the second consecutive year, Hartono earned All-SEC honors, this time making the first team
• Hartono boasts nine ranked wins including three top-25 opponents

Hartono vs. Manasse...
• This will mark the first ever meeting between the two All-American players in singles, but they did meet in the first round of NCAA doubles in 2016
• Manasse is ranked No. 34 with a 16-7 overall record
• Manasse was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team for the third straight year

At the net with Hartono/Bortles...
• Hartono is making her second doubles appearance after qualifying last year with Mai El Kamash
• After teaming up together in late March, Hartono and Bortles own a 7-6 record and a No. 21 ranking
• Hartono and Bortles own four ranked wins including three against top-20 opponents

Hartono/Bortles vs. O'Loughlin/Slattery...
• This will be the first meeting between the two teams
• O'Loughlin and Slattery are ranked 17 in the nation have been ranked in the top 10 this season
• The Pioneer duo own a 17-2 record and have won 10 straight
