Aug. 1, 2013
OXFORD, Miss. - While earning their fifth straight NCAA appearance in 2013, the Ole Miss women's tennis team also excelled in the classroom on the way to the program's 17th consecutive ITA All-Academic Team Award.
The Rebels were one of five Southeastern Conference teams to earn the ITA All-Academic Team Award.
This award honors teams with outstanding academic achievements, requiring a minimum overall 3.2 grade point average to be considered. The Rebels posted an impressive 3.51 cumulative team GPA for the year.
"We are extremely proud of the girls for not only excelling on the court, but in the classroom as well," head coach Mark Beyers said. "To achieve this distinction 17 straight years is a credit to the student-athletes we have in our program. They strive every day to be the best on the court and in the classroom, and it's a credit to them that they are able to accomplish both."
Rohde-Moe posted a perfect 4.00 GPA for the year to earn the honor for the second time. Jones also posted a 4.00 GPA and received the honor for the second time in as many years. Stephens (3.51), El Kamash (4.00), Milutinovic (3.97) and Shumilina (3.78) earned the honor for the first time.
The Rebels earned plenty of academic accolades in 2012-13, including the Chancellor's Cup as the women's varsity team with the highest cumulative grade point average. The team also placed seven on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
