OXFORD, Miss. -- For most of the Ole Miss women’s tennis team, this weekends’ Memphis Invitational will conclude a successful fall season.

The tournament begins Friday, Nov. 2 and features players from Memphis, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tulsa and Vanderbilt.  The event will run through Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Racquet Club of Memphis.

Ole Miss will send five players to the event.  Junior Vief Vlaar, sophomores Paige Keating and Iris Verboven and freshmen Marija Milutinovic and Allie Robbins will all compete for the Rebels.  Vlaar is coming off a B draw victory at the ITA Southern Regional, her first tournament back after off-season wrist surgery.

“We are very excited to play at Memphis,” head coach Mark Beyers said.  “We played there last year.  This year they have another great field with Memphis, Oklahoma, Tulsa and Vanderbilt.  The girls will get some good matches in.  We’ve had a very good fall, including a great tournament last week in Tuscaloosa.  We want to continue that in Memphis and give these girls a chance to finish the fall on a high note and carry that momentum into the spring.”

The Rebels competed in the ITA Southern Regional last week, placing two in the singles semifinals.  Junior Caroline Rohde-Moe reached the singles final, losing a three-set thriller to Alabama’s Alexa Guarachi.  Rohde-Moe’s performance earned her a wildcard into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, taking place Nov. 8-11 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
