OXFORD, Miss. - The defending SEC West Champion Ole Miss women's tennis team added another outstanding addition to the program with the signing of one of the nation's top players, Erin Stephens (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), head coach Mark Beyers announced Tuesday.

Stephens has been ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation in junior tennis.  A five-star recruit, Stephens has been ranked as high as No. 22 in the country for the class of 2011.  She represented the United States in the Junior Federation Cup against Australia.

"We are excited about Erin signing with Ole Miss.  She is one of the top players in the South and in the United States," Beyers said.   "Besides being a good tennis player, she's a great student and comes from a fantastic family.  In Erin, we have someone who is going to help us from more than just a tennis standpoint.  She's going to be a great leader and a good student-athlete.  We can't wait to get her on campus and on court in August of 2011."

The Rebels will open the 2011 campaign Jan. 14-16 at the Memphis Invitational. Their first dual match is Jan. 25 at home against Southern Miss.
