OXFORD, Miss. –
Kick off your weekend early with the Ole Miss volleyball team as they host the Ole Miss Classic Thursday and Friday at the Gillom Sports Center.

The Rebels (4-3) will face Northwestern State Thursday at 11 a.m., in the tournament opener and then welcome Austin Peay at 7 p.m. Ole Miss concludes the tournament Friday with a 6 p.m., match against Mercer.

Thursday night’s match vs. Austin Peay is Dollar Dog Night and fans coming to Friday’s match will get football “Beat UT-Martin” buttons.

Quick Hits…
• Ole Miss went 1-2 at the A-State Invitational with a 3-2 win vs. Virginia Tech and losses to SMU and Arkansas State.
• Sophomore Emily Stroup was named to the All-Tournament Team. It marked the second straight weekend for her to be named to an all-tournament team. Stroup finished with a team-leading 48 kills (3.54 k/s) and hit .346. 
• Stroup recorded a double-double against SMU with a career-high 21 kills on a .391 attack percentage and added 10 digs. 
• Stroup currently leads the team with 94 kills and a .306 hitting percentage. 
• Senior outside hitter Lexi Thompson joined teammate Kate Gibson in the 1,000/1,000 club with her 1,000th dig in the win over Virginia Tech. 
• The Rebels lead the SEC in digs per set at 18.76.

Scouting Northwestern State…
Northwestern State comes into Oxford with a 3-4 record. With a sweep of Jackson State on Saturday at the Troy Invitational, NSU secured its first winning record in a tournament since 2014. After dropping their opening match to Winthrop in five, the Lady Demons beat Troy 3-0 on Friday. Outside hitters Reagan Rogers and Alexis Warren were named to the all-tournament team. Rogers averages 3.22 kills per set. 

About Austin Peay
Austin Peay won the UAB Invitational this past weekend to improve to 6-1 on the year. The Governors equaled their best start in program history (2010) with wins against Georgia State, UAB and Western Illinois. Junior Kristen Stucker was named the Ohio Valley Conference Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging 12.0 assists per set on the weekend. Sophomore Ginny Gerig nabbed the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week honor after posting 56 digs (4.7 per set) on the weekend. The Governors are coached by former Rebel Taylor Mott (Fleming). She played for the Rebels from 1992-95 and graduated from Ole Miss in 1996. 

Mercer Musings…
Mercer enters the Ole Miss Classic at 3-2 after picking up two wins last weekend against Alabama A&M. They started the year going 1-1 at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by South Carolina. The Bears are led by junior middle blocker Paige Alsten, who owns 72 kills (3.79 per set) and is hitting .431. In addition, she is averaging 1.00 blocks per set.
