Road to NIVC Championship Continues for Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. –
After dominating Georgia in the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, Ole Miss welcomes West Virginia to the Gillom Athletics Performance Center Saturday for the semifinals. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.

The winner of this match will face the winner of the TCU/Texas Tech match, which takes place tonight in Fort Worth, Texas.

Tickets for the match will be $8 and can be purchased at the match. Ole Miss students get in free with a valid I.D. courtesy of head coach Steven McRoberts.

For those fans who can’t make it or live out of town, the match will be broadcast on SECN+ via the WatchESPN app with Seth Austin and Brittney McLaughlin on the call.

Quick Hits…
• With a 3-0 win over Georgia in the NIVC quarterfinals, Ole Miss improved 20-14 on the season. 
• The Rebels have now won six of the last seven and two of three this year against Georgia.
• With their 20th win of the year, head coach Steven McRoberts has now led a team to 20 wins in 19 of his 21 seasons as a head coach including three of his first four years here.
• Sophomore Emily Stroup posted 15 kills on a .433 attack percentage to lead the Rebels against Georgia.
Emily Stroup became the single-season kills record holder now with 438.
• The top five single-season kills marks now belong to Emily Stroup, Lexi Thompson and Kate Gibson.
Emily Stroup earned AVCA All-South Region honors. She is one of three underclassmen on the team and is now eligible for All-America honors.  

Scouting West Virginia…
West Virginia (21-12) reached the semifinals with three consecutive shutouts, most recently against Syracuse in the quarterfinals. The Mountaineers are led by AVCA All-Midwest Region honoree Payton Caffrey, who owns 436 kills (3.60/S). The sophomore is a two-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree. Caffrey ranks 11th in the NCAA in service aces per set (0.47). 

Rebels vs. Mountaineers…
This will be the third meeting between the two teams with the series tied 1-1. The Mountaineers won a 3-2 match at the Deacon Invitational in 1997 and then the Rebels claimed a 3-1 win at the Kansas Invitational in 2000.

Last Time Out…
Ole Miss dominated Georgia 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-19) last Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the NIVC. Sophomore Emily Stroup led the way with a record-setting day. She tallied 15 kills on a .433 clip and became the single-season record holder with 438 kills.

400 Kills and 400 Digs Club…
Senior Kate Gibson is part of another exclusive club as one of just eight players in the nation to boast at least 400 kills and 400 digs this season. She owns 404 kills and 419 digs.
