Rebels Seek NIVC Championship

OXFORD, Miss. - The road to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship began in Oxford for the Ole Miss volleyball team, and it will end in Oxford, with the Rebels battling Texas Tech for the Championship Tuesday at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.

First serve for the Rebels and Red Raiders is set for 6 p.m.

Tickets for the match will be $8 and can be purchased at the door. Ole Miss students get in free with a valid I.D. courtesy of head coach Steven McRoberts.

For those fans who can't make it or live out of town, the match will be broadcast on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app with Thad Anderson and Angela Knopf on the call.

Quick Hits...
• With a 3-0 win over West Virginia in the NIVC semifinals, Ole Miss improved to 21-14 on the season. 
• The Rebels have won five straight.
• With their 20th win of the year in the NIVC quarterfinals, head coach Steven McRoberts has now led a team to 20 wins in 19 of his 21 seasons as a head coach including three of his first four years here.
• Sophomore Emily Stroup posted 19 kills on a .286 attack percentage to lead the Rebels against West

Scouting Texas Tech...
Texas Tech reached the championship match with a 3-1 win over TCU in the semifinals. The Red Raiders opened the NIVC with a 3-0 win over SMU and then downed Texas State 3-0. Texas Tech beat UC Irvine 3-1 in the quarterfinals.  Sophomore Emily Hill leads Texas Tech with 411 kills (3.37 K/Set). Senior Kate Klepetka averages 3.82 digs per set (466) and matched a season-high with 32 against TCU.

Rebels vs. Red Raiders...
The series is tied 1-1. The first meeting took place in 1981 at the Alabama Invitational, with the Red Raiders winning 2-0. The Rebels won 3-0 at the Rice Invitational in 2010.

Last Time Out...
The road to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship runs through Oxford, as Ole Miss shut out West Virginia 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) Saturday at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center to advance to the championship match. Sophomore Emily Stroup led the way again with a match-high 19 kills (6.3 K/S) on a .286 clip. 

400 Kills and 400 Digs Club...
Senior Kate Gibson is part of another exclusive club as one of just eight players in the nation to boast at least 400 kills and 400 digs this season. She owns 414 kills and 428 digs.
