OXFORD, Miss. -- Sophomore Keely Stankey of Minnesota, finished third overall at the GARC Championships with a combined score of 1167 in Smallbore and Air Rifle to lead Ole Miss to a fourth place finish Sunday at the Patricia C. Lamar Readiness Center.
Stankey turned in scores of 100, 98, 99, 96, 99 and 98 in her six air relays, and once in the finals, fired a total of 102.2 to finish fourth in Air Rifle with a 692.2. In Smallbore, she finished 10th with a 577.
Boosted by Stankey, the Rebels finished second in the team air rifle with an aggregate of 2344. Junior Colleen Tillson fired a 587, redshirt freshman Kim Coffey fired a 584, and junior Meredith Holman shot a 583 to complete the scoring for the Rebels.
"Overall we had a great weekend," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "Coming in second in air rifle is a big accomplishment for us. We took down three of the four teams that are probably going to go to NCAAs. Keely's finish, taking third in the combined is icing on the cake. Having two kids in the finals for air was really nice. It was a great year."
Ole Miss moved up to fourth place in the final GARC standings with the second place finish in the air. The Rebels finished with a team aggregate of 4609. West Virginia won the overall team title with an aggregate score of 4653.
Next up for Ole Miss is the NCAA Championships beginning Mar. 12. Individual bids will be announced next week.
