Men’s Tennis Finishes Successful First Day at Pair of Tournaments

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis completed its first day of the Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey, along with the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday.
In the Farnsworth Invitational, Noah Schlagenhauf started the day for the Rebels by defeating Piet Steveker of Old Dominion, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Loan Lestir captured a first round straight-set, 6-3, 6-3, victory over Aryan Saleh of Old Dominion to keep the momentum going for the Rebels. The sophomore standout is currently on a four-match winning streak dating back to the previous tournament where he earned the outstanding player award at the SEC-ACC Challenge.
Pietro Pampanin routed Old Dominion's Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, to earn his fourth collegiate singles victory.
Kai Milburn wrapped up the Farnsworth Invitational for the Rebels, getting a gritty win over Meecah Bigun of Princeton, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
All four Rebels will advance to the next round of singles in Princeton.
Milburn and Pampanin also found success in doubles, securing an 8-5 win against Old Dominion's duo of Olivier de Sardan and Obermair, to move on to the next round as a pair.
In the Georgia Tech Invitational, senior Gordon Whitwell led the way, defeating Sota Minami of Georgia State, 6-0, 7-5.
Benjamin Martin finished the day for the Rebels, dominating in straight sets against David Ekpenyoung of Liberty, 6-2, 6-1.
Both Whitwell and Martin will advance to the next round of the Georgia Tech Invitational.
