Women’s Tennis Completes Day One at Roberta Alison Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ole Miss women's tennis' freshman duo of Ichino Horikawa and Owen Wilkinson wrapped up day one at the Roberta Alison Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Friday.
In singles play, Horikawa began the tournament by taking down Julia Milan of ETSU, 6-3, 7-5. Later that day she advanced to the round of 16 after earning a gritty win against Georgia Tech's Given Roach, 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4). These two wins marks Horikawa's sixth and seventh singles victory of her collegiate career.
After moving to the consolation round, Wilkinson defeated Zoe Crimmel of Alcorn State in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
The Rebels will wrap up the tournament on Saturday, Nov. 1 with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles play.
