STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Whitney Craven and Allegra Wells combined for 27 kills on the night and helped the Rebels put together a rally as Ole Miss (15-5, 9-2 SEC) defeated Mississippi State (11-11, 3-8 SEC) by a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-20).

The win gave the Rebels a sweep of the Bulldogs on the season after downing Mississippi State 3-1 in Oxford in the first meeting.

Craven led the Rebels with a team-high 15 kills, while Wells added 12 kills of her own to lead the Rebel offense against the Bulldogs. Morgan Springer added a 22 dig performance to lead the back row defense to go along with 13 digs from Amanda Philpot and 11 digs from Emily Kvitle.

Craven and Philpot both finished the night with a double-double as Philpot also put up 28 assists.

"We knew State would give us their best shot and came out firing on all cylinders," Getzin said. "I'm proud of the way we stayed patient and came back and competed against them. It's big to go on the road and win. I saw some great leadership from our seniors in making sure the team knew what we needed from them and making big plays in critical spots."

The Rebels fell behind early to open the first set, seeing the Bulldogs race out to a 6-1 lead to start the frame. Ole Miss clawed its way back into the match at 14-13 and forcing Mississippi State into a timeout following a block from Regina Thomas and Allegra Wells. The Bulldogs answered back, however, putting together a run out of the break and push to a 25-17 win in the first set.

Ole Miss responded in the second set, rallying from another early deficit to tie the frame at 11 on a Craven kill. The Rebels went on a run from there, pushing out to a 19-15 lead before Mississippi State called a timeout. Ole Miss continued to build on the lead from there, taking the advantage out to a final margin of six points in a 25-19 win in the second set.

Mississippi State again grabbed an early lead to start the third set, moving on top of the Rebels 7-2 and forcing Ole Miss to call a timeout. The Rebels fought back, forcing the Bulldogs into a timeout of their own by cutting the lead to three at 12-9, but Mississippi State answered with another rally. Not to be undone, the Rebels continued to chip away at the lead before tying the match at 21. Ole Miss made one final push from there using a block from Thomas and Kitts and a kill from Thomas to grab the third set 25-23.

Invigorated by the rally in the third set, the Rebels stormed out of the gates to open the fourth frame, claiming a 7-2 lead on the Bulldogs. The lead grew to 14-6 and Mississippi State called a timeout to slow the Rebel run after a block from Wells gave Ole Miss the eight point edge. Another run from the Bulldogs cut the lead to four at 22-18 and sent the Rebels into a timeout to regroup. Ole Miss made a final push from there, grabbing a 25-20 win to claim the match.

The Rebels will return to action on Sunday when Ole Miss will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at 1:30 p.m. Fans can follow the action live on Gametracker at www.OleMissSports.com.
