Box Score

OXFORD, Miss. -- Whitney Craven came up with another double-double, while freshman Kellie Goss came up with a career-high seven blocks to help lead Ole Miss (18-8, 12-5 SEC) past Georgia (13-16, 4-13 SEC) on Friday by a score of 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-18 25-19).

The win gave the Rebels a season sweep of the Bulldogs after defeating Georgia in Oxford in the first meeting this season.

Craven put down a team-high 12 kills with 10 digs for a double-double, while Allegra Wells put down 10 kills of her own. Goss came up with seven blocks and put down six kills to help push the Rebels to the win.

"Kellie Goss really stands out when you look at the numbers. Blocking was a key part of the defense tonight and we did a nice job serving as well. Now we have to refocus and get ready to face at tough Auburn team at home. Morgan Springer did a really nice job controlling the back row and with her serving."

Ole Miss fell behind early in the first set when the Bulldogs pulled out to a four-point lead at 7-3 and held the advantage for the duration of the set. The Rebels evened the score at 13, but Georgia pulled right back in front with an eight point run on the way to a 25-19 in the first set.

It was a back-and-forth battle in the second set with the two squads trading the lead back-and-forth in the early going. The Bulldogs put together a run to push out to a 13-9 lead, but Ole Miss answered right back to tie the set at 13. The Rebels then got a block from Miranda Kitts and Amanda Philpot to take the lead and cruised the rest of the way to a 25-18 win in the second set.

Ole Miss rattled off five straight points to open the third set to grab control of the match firmly for the rest of the night. The lead grew to 10 at 13-3 as the Rebels continued to attack the Bulldogs on the way to a two set advantage with a 25-18 win in the third frame.

The Rebels grabbed a quick lead to start the fourth set and again never looked back as momentum had swung fully to the Ole Miss side of the net. A 5-4 score would be the closest Georgia would get in the frame as the Rebels pushed on to the four-set win with a 25-19 victory in the final frame of the night.

Ole Miss will return to action on Sunday when the Rebels take on the Auburn Tigers at 1:30 p.m. Fans can follow the action via Gametracker at www.OleMissSports.com.
