Rebels Rally To Defeat Ragin' Cajuns 3-2

OXFORD, Miss. -- For the second straight match, the Rebels pulled off a furious rally to complete a come-from-behind win as Ole Miss (5-3) defeated the University of Louisiana (7-4) on Saturday by a score of 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 29-27, 15-25, 16-14).
It was the second match of the Magnolia Invitational for the Rebels who improved to 2-0 in the weekend event on campus at Ole Miss. The Rebels close out the tournament tonight at 7 p.m. against Samford.
The play of the middles paced Ole Miss for yet another match as Miranda Kitts and Regina Thomas put down 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Allegra Wells added 10 kills as the only other Rebel to reach double-digits offensively. Thomas also put down nine blocks in the match.
Six Rebels came up with double-digit digs, led by Morgan Springer's' 19 digs.
The Rebels dug themselves into holes to start four of five sets in the match. After falling in the first frame 25-20, Ole Miss controlled the second set and worked their way out of a jam in the third set to claim a 29-27 victory and put the Rebels up two sets to one.
The fourth hole was too deep in the fourth set, however, as Ole Miss fell behind 5-1 and never made a serious threat to the Ragin' Cajuns. Louisiana claimed the frame 25-15 to send things into a fifth set.
Louisiana grabbed the first distinct advantage in the final set, pulling out to a three point lead before the Rebels were able to chip away and tie the score at 14 on an attack error by the visiting team. Ole Miss then used back-to-back kills from Kitts and Whitney Craven to grab the win 16-14 in the deciding set.
