OXFORD, Miss. -- Miranda Kitts put down 12 kills and hit .346 to lead the Rebels against the Utah Utes, but it wasn't enough as Ole Miss (2-3) fell to Utah (3-2) by a score of 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 17-25, 19-25).
Whitney Craven and Allegra Wells were behind Kitts in kills with nine each. Morgan Springer led the back row with 17 digs for the match.
The Rebels claimed the first set behind the play of Craven, Kitts and Wells who put down three kills each on the way to the 25-18 win. The set was never in doubt as Ole Miss took a 6-5 lead early and never gave it up on the way to the first set win.
Ole Miss took an early lead in the second set, but saw the Utes come back and tie the match at 10. The Rebels couldn't hold on to the lead from there as the Utes pushed ahead and never relinquished the advantage on the way to the 25-17 win in set two.
Utah took a quick 7-1 lead in the third set and the Rebels never got closer than three at 13-10 as the Utes closed out the third set 25-17.
The fourth set followed the same trend with an 11-4 lead for Utah out of the gates as they pushed to a 25-19 win in the fourth set and claimed the match.
Ole Miss will close out the tournament with a match against Morehead State at 4:30 p.m. later today.
