ST. SIMMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Junior Blake Morris carded a 2-over par 72 to lead the Ole Miss men’s golf team on day two of the SEC Championships at Sea Island Golf and Country Club Saturday.
Morris is currently tied for 31st place overall with a two-round total of 3-over 143.
“Today was really frustrating,” Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross said. “We had better scoring conditions but just could not get many putts to fall. We only made four birdies between our top four scorers. This is a bad time for a putting slump. We will get better by investing one good day of practice after another. It is time to manufacture a little confidence.”
As a team, the Rebels are in 14th place with a two-round score of 585. No. 1 Alabama leads the tournament after two rounds with a score of 22-under 538.
Junior Joe Lewis, who is tied for 47th place, posted a score of 3-over 73, bringing his two-round total to 146. Freshman Ben Wolcott is tied for 54th place after carding a 3-over par score in round two. Senior Tom Brown is in 59th place, while freshman Noah West finished the day in 64th place.
The third and final round of the 2014 SEC Championships begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
