Ole Miss Postgame Quotes vs. LSU - Nov. 21, 2015

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze

Opening Statement…
"I am just really excited for our kids, especially our seniors. They have put so much into changing this program. Many of them have experienced tough times, and some have experienced some of the more gut-wrenching losses you can experience as a team. Those guys had a choice to make after those disappointments. It's all about how you respond and how you react. In this day and time, it is very difficult to maintain your focus, sometimes. Putting your team first can be hard. Those guys have continuously bounced back disappointment after disappointment. I couldn't be more proud. I got emotional tonight. One of the players made me emotional thinking about the blessings that I get to enjoy with my wonderful wife, daughters and friends. Without those kids, it is absolutely impossible. We have a group of young men buying into what you believe, your core values, how you handle adversity, disappointment, tough times and the good times. Without those types of kids it would be impossible to enjoy the blessings we have and are able to share with others. I am very happy for them. I couldn't be more pleased with us taking back the momentum after it got a little questionable after the turnover on the kickoff. Our guys just responded really well. Anytime you win a rivalry game, and get to hold that trophy for a year, it means a lot to the Rebel fans. One of the great joys I have is when we do get validated by what the scoreboard says, and we get to enjoy that for the next 365 days, or so."

On the defense's ability to bounce back…
"We missed some points offensively. We easily could have had some more. We missed a few things, particularly on third down when we missed some new downs. Defensively I thought for the first 29 minutes we were absolutely excellent. We stopped a really good run team. We gave them a little bit of momentum before the half. They had the explosive run that gave them a field goal, then the kickoff was fumbled. Couldn't be more proud of the way the defense fought when their backs were against the wall, particularly in the red zone. Even on the fumbled kickoff, we fought to not let them in. I can't complain about the passion they played with. We still have some things that we need to improve on. We were without a lot of kids tonight. We got better from two weeks ago in a lot of areas."

On Chad Kelly's performance in the last two games…
"Chad Kelly has done really well all year. I think the thing he's done well the last two games is that I do not think he has had a turnover. That is the key. He is a talented kid and we have a good scheme for him that he understands. He works hard to understand it. A few weeks ago we started breaking up our play calling a little differently, and I think that has helped us. I think Dan Werner has done a great job and Chad Kelly is one of the hardest working quarterbacks I have coached."

Ole Miss Player Quotes Nov. 21, 2015

DB Mike Hilton

On moving past Arkansas game …
"It started that Sunday. We still have a lot to play for. We knew that we let one slide, but we have to take care of the other games for the rest of the season. This was a big win for us. We have to go into next week with the same mindset and hopefully come out with another "W"."

On how the program has changed since he arrived…
"These four years have flown by. To see how far the program has come and how it's elevated to become one of the top programs in the country is a blessing."

On the defense…
"We gained back confidence. We knew we let one slide, but that happens in college football. Guys really embraced the challenge of one of the best backs coming into our house. We played well, tackled well and slowed him down."

On the Egg Bowl
"It means everything. Everyone knows how important the Egg Bowl is. They're going to come in with a chip on their shoulder. We're going to come in with a chip on our shoulder. It's going to be a fight. We'll see how it turns out."

On Chad Kelly…
"He means everything to this team. A lot of people don't see him as a person because of his past. He's really matured and taken over the offensive leadership role. He's made a lot of plays for us, and I'm happy to call him my quarterback."

QB Chad Kelly

On moving past Arkansas…
After the bye week, we were focused, staying up until midnight. We had to get better. It stinks, but we had to get passed it. Like I said, it helped having a bye week."

On how physical the game was…
"It was physical. I got hit a good amount, but you would expect that in an SEC game. Without a doubt, you get a win, your whole week is a lot better, and everyone is a lot happier. Winning is the best."

On becoming single season TD leader…
"I give all the glory to God and my teammates. We have had some great players that came through this school."

On play calling…
"The coaches did a great job calling plays. Coach Freeze called some plays too. I mean, you just have to go out and execute. The coaches put you in a great situation. That's what they're there for."
